Nominator Email Template - Seeking Applicants from Faculty

PTK Scholarships -

Below is an email template you may use when emailing faculty and staff on your campus about the PTK Scholarship opportunities.  There are certain sections that you may want to customize, depending on the internal deadline for your college, whether or not you have an All-State program in your state, etc.  These items are notated below in red.

Email Subject Line:  Seeking Outstanding Student Representatives of Our College

Dear Faculty and Staff,

We are pleased to announce that the All-USA Academic Team and the Coca-Cola Academic Team Programs will continue in 2021-2022.  The collaboration of Cengage, the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation, The Coca-Cola Foundation, and Phi Theta Kappa will lead to students being awarded nearly $500,000 in scholarships to outstanding college students.  Our college has the opportunity to receive national press recognition should one of our nominees be identified as a scholar.

{Nominators, you may consider removing the next paragraph if you do not have an All-State program in your state.}

In addition to recognition by Cengage and Coca-Cola, nominees to these programs are recognized in All-State Academic Team programs held in 39 states. All-State Team programs may offer academic scholarships, stipends, newspaper coverage, medallions, and/or certificates to scholars. By nominating students to the All-USA Academic Team national program, we are providing scholarship opportunities to All-State Team members to which they would otherwise not have access.

At this time, we are seeking your recommendation of students who should be encouraged to apply for these scholarship opportunities.  In selecting nominees to represent our institution, we ask you to consider students with outstanding academic rigor and grade point averages; participation in honors programs; awards, honors, and recognition for academic achievement, and service to the college and community.

In addition, the focal point of the application is the essay. This should center around one endeavor undertaken by the student that utilized their two-year college education to improve their respective community or college.  Judges look for innovative, creative, original and lasting achievements or undertakings.

{Nominators, you may wish to change the date below so it fits within your internal deadline.}

By November XX, 2021, please forward the names of students we should consider for nomination, as well as a brief summary as to why they would make a good candidate.  Our office will help assist the students in ensuring they have access to the application.  If you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to contact me.  Thank you for your consideration.
