If you have plans to transfer to the four-year college in 2024 after receiving your associate degree/certificate, you would not be eligible for this scholarship.  You may wish to apply for the New Century Transfer Pathway Scholarship, which is also a division of the All-USA and New Century Pathway programs.

Students nominated for the New Century Workforce Pathway Scholarship should be entering the workforce prior to fall 2024, immediately after completing a certificate or associate degree.

What if my plans change from the time of application to the time of awarding the scholarship?
Because this is a Workforce scholarship, students should only be nominated if they will be entering the workforce prior to fall 2024 upon completion of their associate degree/certificate. If a student's plans change after the application closes and they will no longer be entering the workforce prior to fall 2024, they could be disqualified from the Workforce Pathway Scholarship competition.

Students who will be transferring to a four-year college in 2024 upon completion of their associate degree/certificate are not eligible to apply for or receive the Workforce Pathway scholarship.

Can a student be eligible for both the New Century Workforce Scholarship AND the New Century Transfer Pathway Scholarship?
Short answer - NO.  Students cannot be eligible for both pathways.  Workforce Pathway applicants are students that are completing an associate degree or a certificate program with no plans to continue their education past the associate degree level.  Transfer Pathway applicants are students that are continuing their education past the associate degree level, most of which transfer to the four-year college/university to obtain a bachelor's degree.

Is a student considered a Workforce Pathway applicant if they plan to work while pursuing a bachelor's degree at the four-year college/university?
No.  Most students work while they continue their education, and simply working while pursuing a degree does not mean the student will be eligible for the Workforce Pathway.  The Pathway (Transfer or Workforce) the student is eligible for is determined by the applicant's responses to the Eligibility Quiz questions.  Because the Eligibility Quiz on our application is equipped with a complex logic grid, this takes the guesswork out of which pathway a student is eligible for.

How many of these scholarships are awarded each year?
Up to 52 Workforce Pathway Scholarships are awarded each academic year.  50 scholarships are awarded to the top-scoring student in each state; 2 scholarships are awarded to the top-scoring student from Canada or other sovereign nation where at least one PTK chapter resides.

What is the amount of this scholarship, and how is it disbursed?
The scholarship amount is $1,250, and it is disbursed in the form of a check.  The full amount is sent directly to the student via mail.

How should the scholarship money be used if I receive the scholarship?
The scholarship may be used to complete an associate degree, obtain a certification, or purchase tools or other trade-specific items needed to enter the workforce.
